The U.S. Embassy, Jakarta has a vacancy for Mechanical Engineer (FSN-97/2011), FSN-10* Temporary position: 2-years or upon completion of the LSS, CSS and NEC projects (Rp. 187,271,861,- p.a. Full Performance Starting Salary) in the Overseas Building Operation (OBO) office. The Mechanical Engineer shall be directly responsible to the OBO Project Director and provides construction management and engineering services in support of three multi-million dollar construction contracts.
The services include electrical, telecom, technical security, fire/life safety and mechanical for the planning, design, construction, and inspection of the Leased Swing Space (LSS), Compound Swing Space (CSS) and New Embassy Compound (NEC) projects. The incumbent will inspect construction, review plans, recommend approval of shop drawings and submittals, maintain a daily log of construction activities, and develop change orders including preparing cost estimates, and other construction engineering duties related to the construction of the projects.
S/He will maintain a quality insurance program and inspect all construction activities within his/her areas of expertise. S/He shall be capable of working independently and shall provide professional engineering services. Overtime and weekend work will be occasionally required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
- Ten years experience in construction of mechanical and/or electrical systems in buildings is required, at any level. This could include work as a project engineer or project manager.
- Level 4 (fluent) in speaking/reading/writing both in English and Bahasa Indonesia are required. Language proficiency will be tested.
- Must have detailed knowledge of the construction industry, modern engineering principles, technical systems and there appropriate uses under varying circumstances and conditions. Must have detailed knowledge of electrical building systems and construction methods. Advanced knowledge of construction codes and practices is required. Must be able to read plans and specifications. Knowledge of building codes is required.
- Advanced knowledge of Software applications for 2-D and 3-D design and drafting. Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and other applications is required.
